Thief of Your Own Time

Posted on August 20, 2003 in Book of Days

Note: This is part of a series based on exercises from A Writer’s Book of Days. It’s something of a rebellion against the Friday Five and similar tupperware content memes.

Today’s topic: Write about stealing time.

In capitalist society, time can be stolen by the owner of a life if he sells it to another. For many, there is no other choice. To daydream about cloud horses during work or to think about the mountain biking that you want to do when you get away from the office keyboard is considered to be theft.

How can we say that we are free if we cannot dream when the visions come?

Want to participate? First either get yourself a copy of A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves or read these guidelines. Then either check in to see what the prompt for the day is or read along in the book.

Tomorrow’ topic/prompt: Write about an overheard remark.
