Solar Cloud

Posted on November 1, 2003 in Crosstalk Nature

I seem to have slept through the big event that both Deborama and insignifica heralded. I remember looking at the sun through the fumaroles earlier this week while I was out walking in Whiting and seeing a couple of definite spots on the surface. By Wednesday, as the smoke cleared here in Orange, I could no longer stare into the god’s eye. It’s tempting to take out the telescope, point it at the sun, and observe the activity using the solar projection screen.

I haven’t seen the rapine and pillaging that Michael Doss mischievously predicted on Tuesday, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the sudden appearance of unseasonal and providential rain here in Southern California was connected.
