Ananda once said to the Buddha that associating with what was beautiful — in friends, in places, in nature, etc. — was half of the spiritual life.
“No!” cried the Buddha. “It’s the whole of the spiritual life!”
I look at myself and think where is the temple of beauty for the likes of me? Nothing ersatz please. I’m picky.
