Double Standard

rush – v., to defend hypocritical right-wingers with logic that appears to be drug-addled.

Wingnut Debate Dictionary

I dropped by #political at Underwearnet — er — Undernet and picked up this gem from JimL:

It’s the old double standard. The Right is for harsh penalties against addicts in the so-called “War on Drugs” until one of their own is revealed as chemically dependent. Then we’re told that “this is a special case” and we should “show mercy”.

To tell the truth, I think sending Rush off to a compassionate treatment center isn’t a bad idea. Mercy is a fine practice for those who have drug problems. I want everyone to have such an opportunity, regardless of celebrity status or income level.
