Burning

Posted on September 2, 2002 in IRC/Chat Weather

I haven’t looked at the temperature, but Karen Zipdrive has and she was impressed. Karen lives in San Antonio, Texas. When a Texan looks at your weather and gasps “That’s hot!” it’s time to take notice. I think my imood indicator won’t need changing for a few days. I can leave it at “Joel is feeling hot” indefinitely.

There’s a slow, steady burn around the tips of my ears. Most people have decamped to either the mountains or the beach. When I asked Lynn where she wanted to go this morning, she said “Someplace cool.” She couldn’t provide details. I guess even the best minds do not function when they’ve been dry-roasted. Takes a lot of heat to get at the kernel of that nut and we’ve got more than enough, it seems.

fleep, cosmoi and I have been comparing notes. We all live within a 50 mile radius of downtown Los Angeles. fleep was sitting next to his window, last night, checking for breezes. He announced at around 10 PM that it might be cool enough to open up the house at midnight. I went to bed at that hour. The mat of my hair felt like a burning rug. I couldn’t sleep comfortably under the light blankets until nearly 3 am. The breezes never quite blew in the right direction to evacuate the heated gases from our condo.

We might go up Holy Jim Canyon today. Find one of those spots that never get touched by the sun or the rain, that remain in all seasons an even 60 degrees F. fleep wished me luck and promised to look for me on the evening news. I’ve already been a minor search and rescue story once. Maybe we should do a movie.
