Here’s a look back at the 1992 Iowa Caucuses. Iowa voters did not like a certain candidate who hailed from the South at all and voted for favorite son Tom Harkin. A little perspective will be helpful in judging the results of this campaign event which exists, primarilly, to put Iowa before New Hampshire:
Harkin | 76.4% |
Tsongas | 4.1% |
Clinton | 2.8% |
Kerrey | 2.4% |
Brown | 1.6% |
Needless to say that Tom Harkin did not win the nomination. Nor did my favorite of the time, Paul Tsongas. The third place loser who polled a wopping 2.8% became our president.
