One year into the Quagmire, the young people of our country are rising in opposition to the policies of this youth-hostile administration and the Quisling-run schools that they attend. Among other things, the Books not Bombs organizers protest:
In place of decent jobs and schools, young people have been given military recruiters, who get students’ information without their permission. Low-income youth and youth of color have been extensively targeted by military recruiters just as they have been consistently denied access to higher education.
The compassion and zealotry of the organizers of Books not Bombs should be an example to those Wimp-o-crats who continue to feel that we should only mention our opposition to the Occupation of Iraq in low tones and do nothing to reverse the Pentagonization of the America. One by one we’ve seen social justice, freedom, and peace skewered on the corners of the concrete and steel fortress; these students remind us that we’re a loosely shaped land where sharp corners have no place.
The protest shall rise on March 4 2004. To join them as a demonstrator or an organizer or to give money, click here.
