Two Sneaky Deals….

Posted on April 20, 2004 in Human Rights

It’s politics Tuesday!

square045.gifYour government is trying to push two disasters past you while you worry about the safety of the troops in Iraq and consider putting the people who are raising your taxes (if you are working class) back into office:

  • Despite the calls of millions of working Americans to leave his hands off their incomes, the Bush Administration is planning to push through overtime pay cuts. You can shout against administrative activism by clicking here.
  • The other critical story concerns a so-called Victim’s Rights Amendment that the Congress is trying to push through while we’re biting our nails about terrorist activities. I mentioned this last Friday, but no bloggers picked up on this story. What it means is that you will become guilty until proven innocent before a court of law. Think of it as yet another flag burning amendment with far worse repercussions for our freedom. Jon Kyl of R-Arizona and Diane Feinstein D-California are behind the Senate version; Jeff Flake, R- Arizona, J. Saxton R-New Jersey, Vito Fossella R-NY, and Deborah Pryce R-OH are some of the bill’s sponsors in the House. Even prosecutors and conservative columnists such as George Will call it a bad idea. Visit the ACLU web site to learn more about this Election Year gambit by elements of the histrionic Right.

Blog about it!

When is Senator Feinstein going to stop acting like a Republican when it comes to civil rights issues?
