Pineapple Express at a Siding

square173.gif There’s no sweet scent coming from the southwest, despite the arrival of what the pundits are calling The Pineapple Express. The rain falls and comes back up as mist. Tomorrow, they say, will be the last day of what has been starting to look like a perpetuality.

A terse summary: rain slowing up into the evening hours. Cloud cover breaking. Thunderstorms moving in and then sun on Wednesday. But no absolute relief from the opaque vapors that have hung over our head for the next several days. Partly cloudy. Partly cloudly. The chant continues through Sunday night.

I find this downright strange, though not prophetic or significant beyond the fact that I noticed it. This morning I sat in a dental chair getting the impressions for a crown done. A story about the rain that I am working on ran through my head as Dr. Otsu packed threads around a back molar on my lower jaw. Just now, as I finished this, I glanced at the regional satellite map:

Dentition Clouds

Can you see it? An xray of three teeth floating towards Baja California.

My hungry eye found a pattern that appears to magnify me, project my smallness onto the fringes of the continent.
