Terminate Limits

Common Cause says Ahnold’s on the right track, but in my opinion, it remains to be shown that he’s got the guts to fix the real problem in Sacramento: term limits. I agree that electoral districts need to be more competitive, but term limits presents a graver problem. They ensure that the yokel who serves his first term in Sacramento now only has to get through one more election: he is accountable to no one other than himself in the second term. This is why California’s legislature has turned into one massive impasse: no one gives a damn what the voters think.
