Hurricane Katrina dominated bloggers’ attention. Or should I say George W. Bush’s mumbling response to the disaster captured much of the attention this past week. I never cease to be amazed at the degree to which the bow-wow boys cover for him. They attempted to blame the inepititude of the response on the city of New Orleans, the governor of Lousiana, sin, the engineers who put up the first levees, liberal bloggers, and everything imaginable except George W. Bush, the do-nothing Republican Congress, or their own arrant naivite.
A few stories of different character appeared including: gay coffee at Starbuck’s; gay adultery; a worm that drives grasshoppers to suicide; the shrinking ozone hole; Republican jitters over Iraq; 53% disapproval rating for Bush (taken before Hurricane Katrina); Republican witch hunts against climate change scientists; ABC runs a disclaimer on Robertson’s broadcasts; fuss over the morning after pill; statutory rape; the U.S. poverty rate climbs (also pre-Katrina); arrests at NYU; a stupid fuss over George Clooney; first post-Saddam executions in Iraq; AHnold gets booed in Anaheim; pregnancy epidemic in an Ohio high school; why can’t GM make a profit on its cars?; stories of Krishna; frogs running amok on an airplane; and, of course, the death of Rehnquist.
