People do not think that bipolars hallucinate. The fact is that we do. Our hallucinations are not constant like those of schizophrenics — happening at any time, any place. They coincide with our mood swings.
About a month ago, my wife was driving down the Garden Grove Freeway. Traffic stalled. What appeared to be two Orange County Sheriffs came down between the cars. I blinked and they were gone.
My experience is typical. This one came when I was happy — manic. It did not last long. I treated it as most of us learn to treat hallucinations — as flashes of the mind which are best ignored.
