There is That

We can see the Windy Ridge Fire if we climb to an appropriate hilltop and stare west. The blaze signs itself on the horizon like the plume of Old Faithful Geyser. There’s no danger, right now, of it engulfing our neighborhood: wildfires in these parts prefer the affluent districts.

Because it did not threaten our favorite hiking paths, we took a walk on the Harding Trail. I only made it about halfway to my favorite overlook, but I did take my camelbak for a break-in walk.

On the way down, I met a man from Calvary Chapels who tried to get me to go to his service. “Matthew Chapter 6” I said to him.

“Yes, there is that.”

Yes, there is. I’d like a bumper sticker with that emblazoned on it.
