A SubManic Scheme

Posted on July 25, 2007 in Bipolar Disorder Podcasting

square299As I master the fundamentals of sound engineering, a scheme comes to mind. There are plenty of podcasts out there, but I haven’t seen any that make more than a passing reference to mental illness. Creative artists don’t seem to want to admit that it afflicts us — Lord, what if they are bipolar and are medicated to death seems to be the frame of mind.

Then there is the outside, rush to print tabloid style of journalism which puts axes into our hands and claims that our experience is too far out there to be capsulized in a work of journalism or art. They’ll give us a show in the gallery now and then, but won’t take us seriously for very long.

What if we had a podcast that did take us seriously as we described our experiences having our illness?

I’d like to do one. (And it would be better than number one. I’ve been researching how to make it better.) I’ve got lots of time.
