The Chopping Block

Posted on December 16, 2002 in Writing Groups

Someone else was on the chopping block for writing tonight, but I handed out a few pages for next time when Nannette threatens to stuff us with hot spiced beverages and sweet pastries. I had an inspiration last night and provided a revamp of an earlier version of my first chapter. After this, I’m going to concentrate my efforts on the writing of the thing before presenting again.

The idiots who don’t know how to give criticism weren’t there. Hooray.

Afterwards, I spent a couple of hours explaining to Garnette why she should read Jane Eyre (a surprisingly feminist book — unlike the various movie adaptations that have been made of it) and telling her the basic plot line of Band of Angels (never, ever rent the Clark Cable/Yvonne DeCarlo film — an absolute abomination! Where Penn Warren is bold and courageous, the screenwriters were utter cowards.)
