Revision and Root Canals

I just took my pen and cut seven pages of drivel from the short story I’ve been working on.

Performing this feat was not unlike undergoing a root canal. You know something is wrong because it aches. Anticipation adds to your duress. Then you get bold and let the drill do its work. Relief.

And no need for vicodin afterwards. The thrill of the new is its own anesthetic.
