Snow is just an alternate reality of water, the stuff that has been coming down here hard all day. Flood warnings started to hit the web waves last night. They realized themselves this morning, first in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, then eastwards across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties.
I don’t look outside much. It is much more exciting and adventurous to imagine solid towers of water pouring from the clouds overhead. The rain was loud enough that I believe that if I had stood next to the water falls at the head of the condominium complex, I could not have heard their roar. It beats on my roof now and tears at Mounts Modjeska and Santiago. Folks up here have little to worry about unless the strong winds that sometimes accompany these storms make for a localized hurricane in these parts.
People living near the streams watch the stone-bearing waters with more trepidation.
I’m waiting inside, watching DVDs, writing, and reading up on vulgar Mexican slang.
