Question for my Readers

Posted on September 1, 2004 in Site News

square047.gifDue to the routine spam, I have resorted to moderating comments. I know this frustrates users and I am considering some options for dealing with the crisis that are not so strict. Here are a few options that I am studying. What are your opinions on them?:

  • Automatically close comments on messages after 7 to 14 days. I could either continue to moderate or leave recent comments unmoderated.
  • Allow users to “self-moderate”. You would receive an email with a link when you comment here. By going to that link, you verify that you are not a spammer. Those who use adjusted email addresses (e.g. gazissax@NOSPAMHERE.alsirat.com) would have to wait for me to approve or reject their comments.
  • Allow free commenting on posts less than 7 to 14 days old. Comments on posts older than that period would be moderated.
