Ashcroft Covers for A Terrorist

Posted on June 22, 2004 in Violence

It’s politics Tuesday!

square239.gifGet this: FBI agents made a decisive raid on a major terrorist organization. This group which had setting up for attacks on the American population by collecting an arsenal which included

fully automatic machine guns, remote-controlled explosive devices disguised as briefcases, 60 pipe bombs and a chemical weapon — a cyanide bomb — big enough to kill everyone in a 30,000-square-foot building.

This happened in April 2003. Don’t bother to scour the newspapers for the story because it didn’t appear. John Ashcroft did not call a press conference about it because they were his kind of terrorist: home-grown, all-American, white supremacist, and liberal-hating.

In the meantime, the FBI has gone on record to declare that the major threat from inside the nation comes from animal-rights activists and environmental terrorists, neither of which groups have approached the murderous achievements of the white supremacists who blatantly rearm in the lull between Democratic administrations.

It seems to me that the Right is doing what it did during the Reagan years: setting the stage for death squads in the years when they are out of power.

If Bush steals the 2004 election as he did the year 2000 election, I think we will need to watch our neighbors. Bush seems to be counting on the lunatics to back him up when he arrogates power.

Thanks to Andrea the Shameless Agitator for the lead on Paul Krugman’s story.

If you hadn’t seen it, William Rivers Pitt’s editorial on Ronald Reagan is worth reviewing.
