Reaching Out to All Americans

square125.gif….might just mean taking some of us by the throat and throttling us. In recent days, the Bush Administrations has taken steps to purge the CIA of employees suspected of being disloyal to the government. Furthermore, if your blog is counted as “disloyal” to George W. Bush and his cabinet, you may be under surveillance. Coming here and commenting may mean that you are identified as an enemy of the United States.

The trouble is that Bush has it all wrong. My first loyalty is to the American People. They call the shots in this country as restricted by the Constitution. States’ rights come second. And the primary job of the Federal Government is to ensure that the Civil Rights defined by the Bill of Rights remain supreme over all other rights claimed by the States and the officials in the Federal Governments.

The witchhunts have begun again. How far will Bush take them? I am worried about what will happen to us now, but I will say this: they shall only silence me by killing me. And what an absurdity: killing a man who refuses to own any instrument built to be a weapon, who would sooner practice the New Testament injunction of turning the other cheek than hit another person in self defense. The dangerous ones own guns and they vote Republican.

To root out the disloyalty to America and its values, begin in the Oval Office. The election is not yet over. Pray for the country you love.

It feels like everything I’ve warned against for the last twenty five years of my life is coming true in this administration: I saw these people in college and I know that they want power at all costs. Will people ever listen to my warnings and heed my advice? I doubt it. Each day, they erase my face. I just pray that someone out there thinks that I am worth preserving so that future generations may draw hope from seeing that we weren’t all taken in by these false prophets or subdued by our own rage.
