Friday Anteater Blogging – UCI Students Want a Real Mascot

UC Irvine students are pitching in to help bring a real anteater – the school’s beloved mascot – to Orange County.

Seniors graduating in 2007 have made bringing the anteater to the Santa Ana Zoo the goal of their class gift, said Michelle Williams, associate executive director of the UCI Alumni Association.

Their effort contributes to an ongoing project at the zoo to build a half-a-million dollar grasslands exhibit to house greater rheas, guanaco, and the Giant Anteater – which would be a new addition.

I hope they name him Spout.

Who needs cat or squid blogging when anteaters combine the best qualities of both?
