I wrote this the other night, Thursday, when it was still a weekday and I did not have Ambrose’s remains to hold in my arms:
How strange the power of life and death that we have over our pets and they with no reciprocal power over us. If Icould have informed him of his condition would Ambrose have agreed to euthanasia? If I were terminally ill or subject to a condition of chronic, self-destroying suffering, would he have chosen the needle of unwaking slumber for me?
I’m confused as always: who is this writing? The anthropologist or the near poet? I see the spectre and yet I also see the man.
The analyst steps in and says: You always score a split on personality tests. Thinking/feeling. You are both according to the Meiers-Brigg.
Such a simple thing to see when you present it as numbers. So hard to live and get others to understand.
