I had a job in the White House, getting some sort of records in order. They gave me a desk shaped like a piano to work at and kept bringing me food. George W. Bush was there and he was laughing at me because I was his personal assistant. I worried about how I would explain this to my friends. Would I become a Republican just to keep my job?

Will there be a recount? If so, Blackwell must not be a part of it.

The New Age is an attempt to lead me back to Suffering and for that reason, I reject it.

Sunday’s rain washed the snow off the Saddleback, purging what last Thursday’s warmth could not strip from the hills. I went for a short walk (less than four miles) up the Harding Trail to leave off a few new geocaches that some say will never get visited. I enjoyed the view, took a couple of pictures, and walked back down the track, a great smile on my face because I was out there in the brush, enjoying the blanched trunks of the sycamores and the few orange leaves that still squeaked from the electric-shock branches.
Even though it was early afternoon, the breeze chilled me.
I love the Harding. There’s no perpetual steering around trail bikers for one thing. The trail is wide, so you don’t have to stumble into the bushes every time you hear the whirr of spokes cutting the air and the cry “Behind You” usually delivered as an afterthought.

I entered the world of geocaching believing that I would find many fellow outdoors enthusiasts who enjoyed getting out into the wilderness.

Anyone who has hung out at a biker bar for even a few minutes knows that sex, drugs, and rock and roll do not define a liberal.

Look in the lower right. I’ve incorporated Mobog.com photo posts into the blog. These won’t be as good as Paths of Light in quality, but you might enjoy them nonetheless.
UPDATE: So far, commentators on my photos have likened me to Saddam Hussein or a beatnik version of Al Pacino. People who can’t spell have offered damning criticism. Welcome to the Net. Or should I say, welcome to life. I am beginning to understand why Robinson Jeffers yearned for the eradication of the human race.
