Though we wished each other well, enjoyed a good dinner at Inka Mama’s (my mother was surprised to find that she liked Peruvian food), and watched O Brother Where Art Thou afterwards, we didn’t have a Christmas celebration this year. To save power, we packed our lights away; to save forests, we did not have a tree. To save our sanity, we kept mentions of the season to a minimum, though I did wish the waiter at the restaurant “Feliz Navidad”.
