We, the popcorn eating masses, are indirectly responsible for this, because of the reward we grant to those movies in which the actresses appear. It’s not that we think sickingly thin is a good thing: we want people on the screen to look normal.

Many things start in the head. Books, plays, films, paintings, sculptures are all things which everyone will agree proceeds from the mind of the artist through the hand and into the world. But we don’t like to think about other things that start in the head: wars, the decision to pull a trigger, to point the barrel of a tank cannon at a civilian hotel, etc.
