After all the stresses of the last few days — the election, some family problems, uncertainties — the only thing I feel like writing about are the blue veins bulging out of my hands. I don’t know why they are so prominent or if it is just that my bored eye caught sight of them. On the right hand, the largest of them bends like a tree bowing in the wind. The left hand sports a backwards Z. There’s a scratch from looking in the brush pointing at it. The skin on my knuckles softly cracks. I’m getting old. Mid-forties. And I don’t have the energy for a midlife crisis.
